What This Script Does

Album Art & Project Information Panel is a REAPER Lua script that gives you a dedicated panel to manage:

• Project album artwork
• Technical project details
• Automatically generated project info files
• Per-project window position, size, and dock state

It is designed for daily music production, project organization, and long-term archiving.

The script is free to use.

Requirements

• REAPER v6 or newer
• SWS Extension (required for project startup & auto-reopen)

Installation

1. Open REAPER
2. Go to Actions → Show Action List
3. Click Load ReaScript
4. Select Album Art.lua
5. Run the script from the Action List

This will open the Album Art panel.

Important: Auto-Reopen on Project Load (SWS Required)

If you want the panel to automatically reopen when a project is loaded, you must add it to SWS Project Startup Actions.

How to do it:

1. Open Action List
2. Find the script
3. Right-click it and Copy Command ID
4. Go to Extensions → SWS → Project Startup Actions
5. Paste the Command ID
6. Save the project

⚠️ Important:
The project must be saved after adding the startup action, otherwise the panel will not reopen automatically.

Startup actions are stored per project, not globally.

Artwork Handling

Add Image:

• Right-click anywhere inside the script window
• Replace Image → choose a new album art

Other Options:

• Open Artwork Folder → opens image location
• Open Text Folder → opens info text file
  

How it Works:

• When you select an image, the script automatically creates an Artwork folder inside your project directory
• Supported formats:
  • PNG
  • JPG
  • JPEG

On project load, the script automatically scans the Artwork folder and loads the image.
No manual relinking is required.

Everything is designed to be fast, minimal, and distraction-free.

Displayed Project Information

The panel shows:

• Project name
• Project start date
• BPM & time signature
• Sample rate & bit depth
• Total project length
• Track count
• Total plugin instances
• Offline plugins
• Bypassed plugins
• Project folder size
• Total audio storage usage

Automatic Project Info Text File

• A Text folder is created inside the project directory
• A file named:
  ProjectName_info.txt is generated automatically
• The file updates itself and includes:
  • Technical project data
  • Timing information
  • Plugin statistics
  • Storage usage

Perfect for:

• Documentation
• Client delivery
• Archiving

Project Start Date Logic

• The start date is saved only once, when the project is first saved
• Project templates do not carry over old dates
• Every project has its own independent start date

Window State Memory

• Window position
• Window size
• Docked / undocked state

All settings are saved per project and restored automatically when the project opens (if startup action is enabled).
